Description:

There is almost nothing written from a psychodynamic perspective about patients who pull out their hair and then eat it. A clinical case of trichotillomania will be presented and different ways of understanding this obsessive symptom will be explored, including as a symbolic derivative of cannibalism.

 Learning Objectives:

1.  At the end of this program the participants will be able to discuss trichotillomania and trichophagy from a psychodynamic perspective.

2.  At the end of this program the participants will be able to describe one way of interpreting trichotillomania.

3.  At the end of this program the participants will be able to describe symbolic derivatives of cannibalism.
