Developmental Considerations for Kids Who Grieve a Death

Description:

This program will include a brief overview of the history of Annie’s Hope, the organization’s approach to grief support, and programs for kids who grieve a death.  Special consideration will be given to age and development considerations for kids and teens who grieve a death.  Finally, this program will include ways to support a grieving child or teen, including age-appropriate language, school considerations, and group or one-on-one counseling activities.

 

 Learning Objectives:
  1. Participants will be able to describe the history of Annie’s Hope – The Bereavement Center for Kids and the organization’s philosophy of grief support.
  2. Participants will be able to identify how a child’s age and development informs their grief experience.
  3. Participants will be able to apply developmentally appropriate language and activities to support grieving children and teens.
