Description:

How often do your clients listen to their body? The human body is a valuable resource of information, yet this relationship is often overshadowed by fear or shame. This workshop will provide an overview of dance/movement therapy (DMT) and how it can be a helpful modality for clients to repair damaged relationships with their body and selves.  This presentation will begin with an introduction of dance/movement therapy (DMT) and will demonstrate how DMT is an important resource for your clients. Specific interventions, based on diagnosis will be presented.

 

 Learning Objectives:
  1. Gain a deeper understanding of dance/movement therapy as a treatment modality
  2. Understand the theoretical omponents of dance/movement therapy and the importance of mind-body interventions in mental health treatment.
  3. Identify why dance/movement therapy is an appropriate intervention for your clients and how dance/movement therapy targets specific treatment goals according to diagnosis.
