Description:

Drawing on the work of Erna Furman and D.W. Winnicott, this seminar looks at how independence
develops. It also draws a distinction between being independent and being alone.

 

 Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will be able to describe Erna Furman’s four steps to becoming independent.
2. Participants will have a general understanding of Winnicott’s concept of the capacity to be alone.
3. Participants will be able to explain the differences between being independent and being alone.
